Professor Luis Salvador-Carulla
Since September 2012, Dr. Salvador-Carulla is a Professor of Disability and Mental Health at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Sydney. He is a senior researcher at the Centre for Disability Research and Policy and at the Brain and Mind Research Institute. He is a specialist in Mental Health Services research and Policy. He directed the Research Unit on Psychosocial Medicine at the Cadiz University (Spain) until 2005, when he was appointed advisor of the Mental Health Program at the regional Department of Health in Catalonia (Spain). He has also been ‘Faculty Mentor’ of the ‘Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities (MH/DD) Research Education and Training Program’ at Harvard Medical School between 2009 and 2011. He received the Leon Eisenberg Award of the Harvard Medical School in 2012.
Dr. Salvador-Carulla has published more than 130 papers in scientific journals and also authored 27 scientific books and 96 book chapters. Dr. Salvador-Carulla has intensively participated in the development of international networks in the fields mentioned above, person centred medicine, healthy ageing, and bridging and knowledge transfer between disability and ageing. He has been advisor to the Government of Catalonia (Spain), the Spanish Ministry of Health, the European Commission (EC) and the World Health Organisation(WHO).
